Job Objective
This position is responsible for the strategic leadership and oversight of all security and safety operations across a large group of properties or a designated region. This role involves developing, implementing, and continuously improving security and safety (S&S) policies and protocols in line with IHCL’s brand standards, ensuring the safety of guests, employees, and assets, and fostering a proactive security and safety culture throughout the organization. The Director of S&S plays a pivotal role in aligning security and safety strategies with business objectives while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Essential Job Tasks
Leads security and safety operations for a flagship or large property, overseeing risk management, regulatory compliance, and crisis response efforts. Coordinates security teams, manages major incidents, and ensures the integration of advanced security technologies. Collaborates with leadership to align safety strategies with business goals and spearheads fire and life safety initiatives across the property.
Areas of Responsibility
1. Strategic Leadership & Operational Oversight
• Overseeing S&S Operations Across a Large Portfolio. Direct and manage security and safety operations across a group of properties or regions, ensuring high levels of compliance, preparedness, and responsiveness to security threats. Coordinate efforts with Cluster Heads and S&S Managers to ensure alignment with corporate policies.
• Long-Term Strategy Formulation. Develop and implement a multi-year security and safety strategy aligned with IHCL’s corporate goals. Lead initiatives to improve security and safety protocols, integrating best practices and emerging trends.
• Performance Evaluation & Reporting. Monitor the performance of S&S operations, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) across the region. Provide regular reports to the Global Head of S&S and senior leadership, highlighting key achievements, risk areas, and resource needs.
2. Risk Management & Incident Response
• Regional Risk Assessments & Threat Mitigation. Lead comprehensive risk assessments for properties across the region. Customize mitigation strategies to address property-specific risks and ensure risk management policies are regularly updated.
• Emergency & Incident Response Leadership. Serve as the lead for all major incidents impacting multiple properties, including natural disasters, terrorist threats, and security breaches. Ensure robust crisis management and business continuity plans are in place and tested regularly.
3. Technology & Innovation in Security Systems
• Leading Technological Innovation. Spearhead the adoption of cutting-edge security technologies such as AI-driven surveillance, biometric access control, and predictive analytics across the region. Ensure that security systems are continuously upgraded to meet evolving risks and challenges.
• Automation & Standardization. Lead the standardization of security systems across properties, ensuring that automated processes and technologies are optimized for operational efficiency and enhanced protection.
4. Fire & Life Safety Compliance
• Fire Safety & Emergency Preparedness. Oversee fire and life safety programs across properties, ensuring compliance with IHCL standards and local regulations. Lead efforts to integrate emergency preparedness into daily operations, including regular drills and audits.
• Cluster & Regional Fire Drills. Ensure that large-scale fire drills and simulations are conducted across properties. Assess the effectiveness of these drills and improve procedures where necessary.
5. Regulatory Compliance & Audits
• Ensuring Regulatory Adherence Across Properties. Ensure that all properties comply with local, national, and international security and safety regulations. Lead audits to ensure ongoing compliance and implement corrective actions as necessary.
• Security Audits & Investigations. Oversee in-depth security audits across multiple properties, reviewing vulnerabilities and recommending necessary improvements. Manage high-level investigations into significant incidents, ensuring thoroughness and transparency.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Safety, or related field
• Advanced certifications in Security Technology, Crisis Management, and Fire Safety
• First Aid and Occupational Health & Safety certifications
Work Experience
• 26-32 years of experience in security and safety, including leadership roles across multiple properties or regions
Languages Needed in Position
•Fluency in English, Hindi, and local languages as applicable
